Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

2012 Course Options:

Option A:  Full ACLS Course   
2 days - Saturday Day 1, 8-4:30          Sunday Day 2, 8-12:30
Required for first time participants.  Recommended for less experienced renewal participant.  Prerequisites for this course are the Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia Course and a current *AHA BLS card.  No other cards may be accepted per AHA.            
*Limit of 24 participants

Option B:  Renewal ACLS Course   
This is for the experienced ACLS provider only.  *You must have a current AHA ACLS and AHA BLS card.  No other cards may be accepted per AHA.

Option C:  Heart Code Online   
This is for the experienced provider only.  Please call Tanya Anderson at 419-526-8008 for the details.  *You must have a current AHA ACLS and AHA BLS card.
*Please be aware that the only cards accepted for this course are AHA.  No other cards may be accepted for this course per AHA.  NO EXCEPTIONS!  You will not be admitted to the course without proof.

To attend and successfully complete an ACLS class you must be proficient and be able to demonstrate understanding of ECG interpretation, emergency pharmacology and the ACLS algorithms and be proficient in BLS/AED use without prompting before class.  Criteria for successful completion include successful passing of Mega code, written test and attendance for the duration of each class registered for as well as completion of an evaluation form.

How to Prepare
The ACLS Provider Course is designed to teach you the lifesaving skills required to be both a team member and a team leader in either an in-hospital or out-of-hospital setting.  Because the ACLS Provider Course covers extensive material in a short time, you will need to prepare for the course before hand by obtaining the 2010 The ACLS for Healthcare Providers Manual.  Complete the ACLS Algorithms and PreCourse Self-Assessment Test only available online:  www.heart.org/eccstudent (password is in the manual for access to the website).
The manual may be obtained by hospital employees by calling Tiffany Sanders at ext. 8761 or Tanya Anderson at ext. 8008.  A limited supply is available on a first come, first served basis.  Outside participants or any employee unable to reserve a book in the library may order from the following websites or at the OSU/NCSC bookstore.
